How does privacy work?

You choose privacy per note: keep it private, share with friends, or make it public. You can change visibility any time.

Do I need an account?

An account lets you back up data, use social features, and sync across devices.

Next Time ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application ("the App"). By using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Personal Information You Provide:

• Email and password (via Firebase Authentication)
• Google account information (email, name) when signing in with Google
• Notes you create about restaurants, including optional photos, ratings, and tags like "Favorite" or "Next Time"
• Comments you write on your own or others’ notes
• Friend connections and friend requests (usernames, display names, and profile photos)
• Feedback you submit via the feedback form

Automatically Collected Information:

• Location access (used to provide nearby suggestions and search results; not stored or shared outside the immediate request)
• App usage data (via Google Analytics for Firebase, including user IDs, restaurant names you interact with, search queries, and feature usage patterns)
• Device information (such as device type, OS version, and crash logs, for analytics and debugging)
• Profile photos and note photos (if you upload them, stored securely in Firebase Storage)
• Push notification tokens (to deliver notifications about likes, comments, and friend activity)

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide and improve app functionality
• Sync and store your notes, comments, and friend data securely
• Personalize your experience (e.g., suggestions, friend activity)
• Enable social features (e.g., comments, likes, friend requests, activity feed)
• Deliver push notifications (e.g., when someone likes or comments on your note, or sends a friend request)
• Understand app performance and usage through analytics (including tracking user behavior, interactions with restaurants, and feature usage to improve the app experience)
• Respond to your feedback or support requests

3. Data Sharing

• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.
• We use Google Analytics for Firebase to collect and analyze app usage data. This includes information such as user IDs, restaurant names, search queries, and feature usage patterns. This data is used to understand how the app is used and to improve the user experience. Analytics data is processed by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.

4. Data Storage & Security

• We use Firebase Firestore, Authentication, and Storage, which encrypt and securely store your data in the cloud.
• Profile photos, note photos, and restaurant images may be cached on your device for performance, but are not shared with others.
• We follow industry-standard practices to protect against unauthorized access.

5. Your Data Rights

• You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Account settings page.

6. Location Permissions

• We request access to your device's location to enhance the in-app experience.
• We do not collect, store, or share your location data outside of the immediate request needed to provide results.

7. Children's Privacy

• The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13.
• We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.

8. Data Retention

• Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data (including notes, photos, comments, and connections) is deleted from our servers.
• Cached images and data on your device are automatically deleted when no longer needed or when you clear the app cache.

9. Changes to This Policy

• We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted within the app and updated at the top of this policy with a new "Last updated" date.

Welcome to Next Time ("we," "our," or "us"). By creating an account or using the app ("Service"), you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. Please read them carefully.

1. User-Generated Content

Next Time allows users to share text, photos, comments, and ratings ("Content"). You are solely responsible for the Content you post.

You agree that you will not post, upload, or share anything that:

• Contains hate speech, harassment, threats, or personal attacks;
• Promotes violence, discrimination, or illegal activity;
• Includes nudity, sexual content, or graphic imagery;
• Is spam, self-promotion, or misleading information; or
• Violates any law or third-party rights.

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. Content or accounts that violate these rules may be removed without notice.

2. Moderation & Reporting

We use automated and manual tools to help filter or flag objectionable material.

Users can:

• Report content or comments they believe violate these Terms.
• Block other users to prevent unwanted interactions.

Reports are reviewed within 24 hours, and offending content or accounts may be removed permanently.

3. License & Ownership

You retain ownership of the Content you post. By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display your Content within the app and its related features. This license ends when you delete your Content or account.

4. Account Responsibilities

• You must be at least 13 years old to use Next Time.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You agree not to share your login credentials or impersonate others.

5. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms, post objectionable content, or engage in abusive behavior.

6. Limitation of Liability

Next Time is provided "as is." We make no guarantees about reliability or availability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the app or interactions with other users.

7. Updates to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after updates means you accept the revised Terms.
